A group of supporters is organizing to rally public support for a new Avery School.  Next month’s Special Town Meeting will vote on the $23.37 million school, and separately new athletic facilities for the nearby high school contingent upon approval of the school.  If Town Meeting approves the measure it will go to voters for a debt exclusion vote in January.

“We want to be able to put the most accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information into their hands before they do so,”said Selectman and organizer Mike Butler.

The organizational meeting of supporters will be on October 18, at 10 a.m. at the VFW Post on Eastern Ave.  The School Building/ Rehabilitation Committee is recommending that a new school be constructed on the site of the basketball courts on Pottery Lane.  The state has committed to reimbursing the Town $11 million for the project, and SBRC members believe they may be able secure more.

Anyone seeking more information is encouraged to contact School Committee member Joe Heisler at 781-492-0415.
