Long time Selectmen and co-founder of Dedham Civic Pride Marie-Louise Kehoe was honored earlier this week when a tree was planted in front of Town Hall in her name.
Civic Pride Chairman Amy Black said that the choice of tree, a Japanese dogwood, was a fitting choice. It is small but strong, much like the woman for whom it was planted, Black said.
Kehoe said she accepted the tree with great gratitude.
“I am still here once or twice a week,” Kehoe said as she was surrounded by friends, family, and town officials.“When I look at it I will remember fondly the opportunities I have had to serve.”
In front of the tree is a piece of Dedham granite with a plaque bearing Kehoe’s and Civic Pride’s names.
