The 6^th Annual Saturday Night Jam to benefit Cystic Fibrosis research was held last night at Moseley’s on the Charles.  Held in honor of 6 year old Bobby Coughlin, the son of Bob and Christine Coughlin, the attendees were dubbed members of Bobby’s Brigade (facebook).

While they hoped to raise $50,000 on the evening, the night was “just a fun party,” said Bob Coughlin.  Hundreds agreed, as they spent the night dancing to the sounds of Legit.

Worcester Sheriff Guy Glodis was among those in attendance.

“I want to commend Bob Coughlin for never forgetting his roots,” Glodis said.  “Tonight what he is doing isn’t just about economic development.  It is about saving lives and improving the quality of life for a lot of kids at Children’s Hospital.”

While the annual CF Great Strides Walk in the spring benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, proceeds from the Saturday Night Jam went to the Cystic Fibrosis Discovery Fund at Children’s Hospital. 

“This is a great night for a great kid and a great organization,” said Bobby Lyon.  “Bobby means the world to all of us and he’s going to be the one little kid who beats CF.”

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States.  The number of people living with cystic fibrosis has risen in recent years as medical advances have allowed those diagnosed with it to live longer.
